Overnight Saturday, Guelph police ran a ride spot check. They pulled over 415 vehicles.
One novice driver got a 24 hour licence suspension. And a 21 year old passenger in another car, was charged with public intoxication, after she got out of the vehicle, and caused a disturbance.
But police also say they encountered a number of designated drivers.
But police also stopped two other drivers, independent of the ride checks. One was driving erratically. The other speeding. Both drivers were charged with drinking and driving offences.
Police also conducted road safety enforcements around the city on the weekend, issuing 64 tickets, most of them for speeding.
12 tickets were handed out on Woodlawn Road near Governors Road.
Several thousand dollars worth of jewelry were stolen in a break-in yesterday morning at a Paisley Road business.
Two bikes were stolen from a back yard shed on Waterloo Avenue.
And two men fled from a Hands Drive home. The residents arrived home to find the men broke in, through a basement window.
Police arrested a 54 year old Guelph man over the weekend, in connection with a disturbance last week at Guelph General Hospital. As a patient was being treated, he began to cause a disturbance. He punched one security officer in the face, and smashed out a glass panel in a sliding door.
One man is charged with uttering threats, assault and mischief.
