Ontario’s Green Party wants to ban corporate and union donations to political parties.
Lead Mike Schreiner also wants to limit third party advertising, and provide some public financing for eligible parties.
He says political fund raising in Ontario doesn’t pass the “stink test”.
We interviewed him, the day after the premier held a 6 thousand dollar a plate fund raiser last night.
He says, people are getting sick and tired of big money having access to politicians.
He adds, he doesn’t think big swanky fund raisers have any place in Ontario politics.
Schreiner points out that the Federal Government banned corporate and union donations to political parties in 2003. that ban was extended to individual candidates in 2006.
