It was all about The Weeknd at last night’s JUNO AWARDS!
He walked away with Single of the Year for hit song I Can’t Feel My Face and Album of the Year for Beauty Behind the Madness. He also won three Junos at Saturday night’s untelevised event — Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year.
Another big winner was The Guess Who frontman Burton Cummings, who was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Nickelback introduced Cummungs, and Chad Kroeger revealed that, “My mother is such a fan of Cummings, she wanted to name me Burton…”!
Walk Off the Earth took Group of Year, beating out Hedley, Marianas Trench, Metric and Three Days Grace.
Alessia Cara was awarded the coveted Breakthrough Artist of the Year (and also spilled, “I have never made an acceptance speech before.”) over fellow nominees Coleman Hell, Francesco Yates, & Scott Helman.
Fan Choice went to Justin Bieber, who did not attend the Juno’s and instead opened with a performance at the iHeartRadio Awards in L.A. ….. He also got majorly BOO’d after the win and a self-centered boxing video acceptance speech… I would’ve boo’d too.
