Ontario is investing an additional $1.1-billion in school infrastructure across the province, bringing the total allocated for repairs and renewals over the next two years to $2.7-billion.
The Wellington Catholic District School Board gets an extra 1.2 million for a total of $4.4-million – while the Upper Grand receives an additional $9-million, bringing its total funding to $32.4-million.
The funding will enable local school boards to repair roofs, update H-VAC units and modernize electrical and plumbing systems.
More visible elements of schools also require improvements, including walls, ceilings, and flooring, as well as playing fields and asphalt court yards.
The announcement was made this afternoon at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute by Guelph MPP Liz Sandals.
