We are under a Heat Warning, and that means staying cool is a priority – but when you bring the temperature down…your hydro bill goes up. Guelph Hydro Communications Specialist, Kelly McMath says the best way to keep a handle on your air-conditioner’s electricity use is by setting your AC no cooler than 25 and installing a programmable thermostat. That way its not working as hard during the times of the day when you’re out.
She also recommends using ceiling or table fans along with your air conditioner.
McMath says Guelph Hydro customers can track their power usage on a day to day basis through the utility’s online customer portal, called “My Energy View”. You can then make adjustments if your electricity use is higher than desired.
