Canada’s health minister is apologizing for the costs of hiring a Toronto-based limousine company to chauffeur her to meetings and to Pearson airport.
Jane Philpott issued a statement last night acknowledging the thousands of dollars spent on the company owned by a Liberal supporter were excessive.
The Toronto-area M-P says she’ll reimburse more than 37-hundred dollars spent on shuttling her to meetings in southern Ontario.
Philpott’s office is reviewing the cost of trips to and from Toronto’s Pearson airport.
She promises she’ll reimburse any excessive expenses if the more than 38-hundred dollar pricetag exceeds fair market value.
New Democrat M-P Charlie Angus says he hopes the governing Liberals will learn a lesson about establishing accountability for cabinet ministers.
The Conservatives are asking the Ethics Commissioner to look into Philpott’s use of a company owned by one of her supporters.
