Kingston has proclaimed today Tragically Hip Day in honour of what’s expected to be the iconic Canadian band’s final concert.
The last show in the band’s “Man Machine Poem” tour sold out within minutes — but people without tickets will be able to watch the concert on a large screen at Kingston’s Springer Market Square.
Thousands of other Canadians are expected to take in a live CBC broadcast at public screenings planned everywhere from restaurants to movie theatres to community viewing parties.
The band is wrapping up the cross-Canada tour it announced after revealing lead singer Gord Downie is suffering from terminal brain cancer.
In Guelph, There will be a live showing and celebration of The Hip’s Final Show at Market Square with Live Bands kicking off the event and The Tragically Hip show starting at 8:30pm
