Today is the Labour Day holiday and that means the usual list of closures and service reductions.
Its a day off for, banks and the postal service.
Most retail locations are not open, including Stone Road Mall and Old Quebec Street. Beer stores, LCBO outlets, and grocery stores – also shuttered for the day.
All Guelph libraries, rec centres, and other city facilities are closed as are municipal offices and the Waste Resource Innovation Centre. There is no waste collection today – that moves ahead one day for the remainder of the week. The exception is transit services. Guelph buses will operate on a Statutory holiday service schedule.
Splash pads and wading pools WILL be open today.
The Guelph and District Labour Council is hosting its annual Labour Day picnic this afternoon at Riverside Park. There will be park rides, music, and a children’s area with facepainting, and games.
Lunch includes hots dogs, corn on the cob, and drinks. Each item is a dollar.
Donations to the Chalmers Food Pantry and Central Students Association Food Bank are being collected. The event runs from 12-3.
