At a committee meeting November 7th, the issue of water taking permits will be discussed by Guelph City Council, and you will have your opportunity to present your arguments, for or against.
A motion by Councillor James Gordon, to have the city’s concerns about such permits, was approved by council.
But Gordon says the company name, “Nestle”, was deleted from his motion, at the request of other councilors. He calls it the “Elephant in the Room” saying we all know the water taking permit we’re talking about is the Nestle permit.
The Province is looking at the matter, but Gordon is concerned they’ll just boost the price that water takers pay.
he’d like to see the whole practice eliminated.
