Police have arrested 16 people and are still searching for three others in a multi-jurisdictional robbery investigation involving two gangs in the Toronto area.
Toronto police say the charges relate to 37 armed robberies of banks and retail stores that took place between May and November – mainly in the Greater Toronto area.
The Guelph incidents cited in the report include a July 7 bank robbery on Edinburgh Road South, and a pair of robberies that occurred just minutes apart in the Imperial-Paisley Road area October 27.
They say the arrests are also related to 18 vehicle thefts in Guelph, Toronto, Halton and Peel regions.
Police allege the Complex Cripp Gang and Treyy Money Gang worked together on the robberies, with members frequently rotating roles in the robberies to avoid detection.
