In a release, Wellington Water Watchers along with SaveOurWater.ca says repeated vague responses by Centre Wellington Mayor Kelly Linton regarding any discussions between the township and Nestle Waters is raising concerns about a possible backroom deal.
Water Watchers Chair, Mike Nagy says if closed door meetings are happening, they demand the discussions cease immediately as the community does not want any deal with Nestle.
A public meeting, organized by the two water conservation groups, is set for Wednesday, January 11th at the Elora Legion, beginning at 7:00PM. Organizers say they want to bring attention to Nestle’s actions to bypass the moratorium, as well as what residents can do to stop the company.
Mayor Linton tells us nothing is going on between the township and Nestle, and they will continue to be open and transparent about any future discussions. He says the township is currently focused on determining their own water requirements.
