The provincial government is getting praise from the World Wildlife Fund Canada for proposing to raise bottling fees. They have suggested the fees be raised by $500 per million litres of ground water taken. The current cost is only $3.71 for every million litres. W-W-F-Canada’s vice-president Elizabeth Hendricks says the low value placed on fresh water has led to overuse. Reviews are still underway for water-taking permits including those for industrial purposes.
