Friday afternoon, Guelph police located and arrested a couple on an outstanding warrant for a break and enter. At the time of their arrest, ID documents and banking information that did not belong to them was found.
That led to a search warrant being issued for a home on Fountain Street.
There, police uncovered a prohibited weapon, drugs and about 5-thousand dollars worth of property. The investigation has led police to believe, 20-thousand dollars of fraudulent purchases had also been made by the couple.
A 40 year old woman and a 42 year old man face a long list of charges.
Yesterday morning, a Guelph by-law officer informed police about a man seen tampering with licence plates in the Norfolk and Cork Street area.
The suspect was driving a green Ford Explorer. Police were able to locate the truck but it took off. At that point, police ended the brief chase.
It wasn’t long before the Explore lost control, jumped a curb and came to a stop.
The male driver and female passenger jumped out and fled.
Police caught the man right away, the woman escaped.
The Brampton man is charged with flight from police and dangerous driving, among other charges.
A 24 year old Guelph man was charged with assault when he socked another man downtown around 230 Sunday morning. A Police officer watched the exchange and moved in to press charges.
Then later in the morning, a 22-year-old Guelph male walked into an establishment on Norwich Street and asked to use the washroom.
Staff were familiar with the man and asked him to leave. Witnesses say he appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
The male eventually left, but not before pulling out a knife and accosting staff.
He was arrested a short distance away and now faces weapons charges and breach of probation.
