The County of Wellington is receiving a provincial grant to support local immigration initiatives.
$98,574 goes toward a two-year-initiative based out of the County’s Economic Development Division.
The first year of the plan will focus on developing strategies to attract global talent to rural labour markets.
The second year includes skill-building workshops in rural areas to help immigrants and international students adapt and contribute to these communities. The project will also seek to connect job seekers with local employers.
Partners in the initiative include the University of Guelph, Conestoga College, Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington, and the Town of Minto.
