Sometimes eavesdropping on someone’s conversation might be for their own good.
A woman was sitting in a Centre Wellington coffee shop when she overheard a senior talking on the phone to someone claiming to be from Microsoft.
The man seemed to be having trouble with his laptop and was offering a sum of money to have it fixed.
The woman tried to warn the senior about the dangers of what appeared to be scam in process. She then called police, but the man had left before the OPP arrived.
The senior was located at his home shortly after and was on the phone just about to pay to have his computer repaired.
An officer took over and established the person on the other end was not a technician and it was indeed a scam.
