Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health is warning residents to keep away from wild animals to vaccinate their pets for rabies.
There have been no confirmed cases of rabies in Wellington County, but there have been hundreds in the counties surrounding Hamilton.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Nicola Mercer says it’s only a matter of time before an infected animal is found in our neck of the woods.
If you have been bit or scratched by a wild animal, contact public health. If it was your pet that had the run-in call your vet or if see a suspicious animal, call the Ministry of Natural Resources Rabies Hotline
