A new study from the University of Waterloo has found that once high school students start to use Marijuana, their grades plummet and they become less interested in educational pursuits. The study was based orff a survey by more than 25-thousand students across the country, and it found that students who smoke up at least once a month, end up skipping class, and failing to do their homework, even if they weren’t’ doing those things before. Also student who used the drug were found to be half as likely to get high grades and find the value to do so. The same effect was not found in students when they start using alcohol. Those conducting the study say it is important to understand the effects of marijuana on young Canadians particularly because of the federal government’s plan to legalize the drug in 2018.
