A Professor with the University of Guelph, has won a distinguished prize given out by the Canada Council For the Arts. Each year, the Council hands out two $50,000 prizes that are funded by the Molson Family Foundation, To Canadians who contribute to Canada’s cultural and intellectual heritage in two categories, The Arts, and Social Sciences and Humanities. Professor Lawrence Hill won this years Art Award. Hill, who joined the University of Guelph Last year has written 10 books, including “The Illegal” and “The Book of Negroes”. The Creative Writing Professor has also won a numerous amount of other awards, including the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize and he has been featured on CBC Radio’s Canada Reads program, twice.
