Wellington County OPP responded to an assault on Saturday, that had just occurred behind a garage in the Town of Clifford. According to reports, two men were assaulted by another following an argument. Further investigation led to the conclusion that they were all involved in the altercation after a night of drinking. The two men had separated with one leaving, and the other left, only to come back a half an hour later to strike one of the victims on the head with a hammer. A third man tried to intervene but was also struck in the head with a hammer. Both victims suffered minor injuries. A 29 year old of Clifford was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon.
