Guelph General Hospital has been recognized as “going beyond the requirements of Accreditation Canada.
The General has be awarded “accredited with commendation” from the independent, not-for-profit organization.
It sets standards for quality and safety in health care using over 22 hundred bench marks.
And the General met or exceeded the standard in 98.3 percent of those bench marks.
In May, a 3-member team was at the hospital for 3 days, visiting almost every area and interviewing staff, patients and families.
That panel said the general has highly engaged staff and physicians. They seemed to enjoy their work, and were very proud to be a part of the hospital.
Staff is supported, and a “no-shame, no-blame” culture is evident.
Community partners commented that the hospital works together with them, to improve the care of patients.
