Waterloo Regional Police and the OPP have arrested the man that hopped into an Ambulance and drove off overnight. Police say the ambulance was unoccupied and parked outside of Cambridge Memorial Hospital when it was taken from the lot around midnight Sunday Morning. Police spotted the ambulance with it’s light on but no sirens driving Eastbound on the 401 heading into Halton Region, that’s when the OPP took over and pursued the vehicle into Peel Region, then East Gwillimbury and finally into Wasaga Beach, where the high-speed pursuit was brought to an end after six hours. OPP eventually deployed a spike belt, putting an end to the chase. The suspect was arrested Sunday morning without incident. Initial Reports indicated that a paramedic was in the back half of the ambulance at the time of the theft, however that turned out to be false. The ambulance was not damaged.
