An elementary school in Brantford was placed in a Hold and Secure yesterday morning, as there was a heavy police presence in the downtown Area.
Brantford Police searched for a man that was said to have escaped from their custody in front of the Market Street Jail. Central Public School was placed on the hold and secure as the search continued. A hold and secure is different from a lockdown, People inside the building are allowed to move freely within the establishment, but must not leave or enter the premises.
The suspect, 33-year old David Goyit of Brantford, escaped custody wearing leg shackles while being escorted to a vehicle. Goyit is described as a 58 year old man, 5 foot 7, about 162 pounds, and was wearing a blue hoodie and black shoes, with a mohawk haircut parted to the left. Canine Units were brought in to help in the search and he is still at large.
