Saturday Night members of the Wellington County OPP conducted a RIDE check in Guelph/Eramosa Township at Conservation Road . Officers observed a vehicle entering the Checkpoint and when speaking with the driver police formed the opinion that he might be under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside screening test was conducted and the driver was brought to a Local OPP Detachment for further testing. The 54 year old man of Kitchener was charged with driving with over 80 and impaired driving. He’ll lose his vehicle for a week and his license for 90 days.
Elsewhere on the same date, another RIDE check was being conducted on the Hanlon near College Ave.
Around 1 o clock Saturday Morning police watched as another vehicle pulled through the checkpoint. While speaking with the driver police found clear signs of impairement and conducted a roadside screening test.
The 54 year old Guelph Man and has also been charged with impairment and over 80. He too loses his license for 90 days and vehicle for a week.
Friday Morning, OPP Received reports of a Silver Jeep driving erratically and spinning its tires on Tower Street South in Fergus. Officers located and stopped the driver, It was then they realized the man behind the wheel was under the influence of alcohol. Police conducted a roadside screening test which resulted in a fail and further investigation revealed the vehicle was not registered. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP Detachment. A 22 year old man from Arthur has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs in his system and without a valid permit. He loses his license for 90 days and his vehicle for a week.
