The Belwood Lake ospreys have two chicks.
The nesting pair arrived in early April. The first egg was laid April 29th.
The second followed on May 2 – the third egg on May 5th.
On Monday, the first egg hatched, followed by the second one this morning.
The third egg remains in the nest. You can check out the osprey family on the Grand River Conservation Authority website.
In February of this year, protection was added to the pole, on which the nest sits, to help prevent a incident like last year.
Just after the chicks hatched, a raccoon climbed the pole and cleaned out the nest.
