The Wellington County Library is being recognized for its Rural Internet Hotspot Lending Programme.
The library has received an American Library Association Presidential Citation for Innovative Library Projects.
The lending program is a free initiative allowing library patrons to borrow WiFi hotspots and access unlimited high speed internet during the seven day checkout period.
The program is unique in Canada and focuses on improving access to high-speed internet in rural areas.
It’s a two year project funded by a grant from the Ontario Libraries Capacity Fund for Research and Innovation.
