We sort at home, so why not sort when we’re out and about?
The City of Guelph is hoping to improve the recycling program by implementing it within parks and sports fields across the City.
In May, the city installed 150-blue and 50-grey carts at local parks and fields – and for those who forget what goes in which bin, signs were also installed. This will help visitors place glass, plastic and paper into the blue carts, and food, pet waste, diapers and coffee cups into the grey.
The program has seen great success so far, saving 1.1 tonnes of recyclable materials from landing into our landfills.
The program hopes to expand next year, but needs the pilot to be successful to receive the proper budget to do so.
