The Elora Mohawks saw their season come to an end last night, when they were officially eliminated from the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League Playoffs by the #6 Ranked Hamilton Bengals. The Mohawks went into the first round best-of-five series as the third seed in the Western Conference, and with home advantage. The Mohawks took Game 1, but would slip in the next two games, giving the Bengals a series lead, which pushed the Mohawks close to elimination on Thursday during Game 4 inside Hamilton’s Dave Andreychuk Arena. The Mohawks held on to win 8-4, forcing Game 5 which took place last night.
The Bengals took the early lead, scoring the lone goal in the first period. Elora would then go on to score 4 in the second period. Heading into the third and final period of the first round matchup, Elora had a 4-3 lead and quickly made it 5-3 out of the gate. However, Hamilton’s Jordan Gillis, Sam English, and Luke Robinson would each score respectively making it 6-5 for Hamilton and turning off the lights on the Mohawks’ Season once and for all.
