Provincial Police are reminding the public about the law in place to help keep officers and other emergency personnel safe on our roads.
The Highway Traffic Act requires all drivers to slow down and give space to emergency vehicles when they are spotted alongside of a highway with lights activated.
Most officers will admit to having close calls with passing vehicles. Recently a member of the Wellington County Traffic team reports having a car brush the back of her duty belt while the officer was at the side of the Hanlon.
Failure to Move Over and Give Space can result in a fine between 400 and 2-thousand dollars and the loss of three demerit points.
