City staff will be completing a request for proposal process for the redevelopment of the downtown Baker District.
Council directed staff to complete the RFP during Monday’s meeting.
The project would include space allocation for a main library.
Development of the Baker District has been ranked by both council and staff as a high priority economic development project. Developers and investors, providing marketing feedback to the city have also ranked the Baker Street property the highest among five downtown Guelph real estate opportunities.
$13.3-million dollars was previously approved to purchase property for the District. $4.2 million has been spent on acquiring two of the four properties.
