Wurth Canada has signed a first of a kind deal with The Missanabie Cree First Nation.
The joint-venture agreement signed at the Wurth Canada headquarters in Guelph, will see the company supply the first nation with tools and equipment to for their two gold mining operations.
The first nation is currently working with Richmond Mines and Argonaut Gold in their mining ventures at it’s traditional territorial lands about 400 kilometers north of Sault Ste Marie.
President and CEO of Wurth Canada, Ernest Sweeney says his company will be hiring local first nation workers in the deal, beginning with one local hire and adding more as the mining operation needs increase.
Sweeney adds he hopes this deal marks a starting point for future agreements Wurth Canada can reach in the future.
