The Grand River Conservation Authority says the popularity of the Elora Quarry has increased significantly over the the past two years, placing a great deal of pressure on both the park and the local neighborhood. The GRCA also sites safety concerns with the large number of visitors.
To that end, the Conservation Authority is placing a limit of 13-hundred on the number of people allowed inside the park at one time.
Starting Thursday (Aug 3), the gates at the Quarry will be closed when the park reaches its maximum capacity.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early or call ahead if they plan to visit the park.
Elora Quarry is open daily from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. on weekends and 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. on weekdays or until capacity is reached. Information on park status can be obtained by calling 519-620-7596.
