UPDATE, Thursday, August 10, 2017:
With the help of the public the accused was located in yesterday’s assault on a child.
A 77 year old woman, whose name was not released, was ‘cautioned’ for the incident due to her dimished capabilities.
Police say the young girl was not hurt in the incident. The elderly woman apparently slapped the girl unprovoked at a No Frills grocery store yesterday and fled the store when she was confronted by the child’s mother.
Police have closed the case.

Halton Regional Police are investigating after a child was assaulted by an unknown woman inside a Grocery Store in Oakville.
Police say the mother of the 8 year old child was shopping with her four children at a No Frills on Cross Avenue when an unknown woman approached the 8 year old daughter and slapped her.
The mother confronted the woman who then fled the scene. The suspect is being described as white with brown shoulder length hair, believed to be about 70 years of age.
She was seen wearing a white shirt and black pants. Photos of the woman are available on our website. Halton Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
