Officers located a stolen vehicle yesterday morning after it was abandoned by the driver who had hit a tree.
Originally officers were called to the Maryhill area (in Woolwich Twp) early in the morning because of suspicious vehicles seen in the neighbourhood. When patrolling they saw a stolen vehicle fleeing the area but they didn’t pursue it out of a concern for public safety. That was the vehicle they found abandoned after the driver had hit a tree on Maryhill Road. The driver fled the area on foot and was not located.
Police found what they believe to be stolen items from unlocked vehicles in the area inside the wrecked car.
Waterloo Regional Police are reminding residents not to leave keys or other personal belongings unattended in their vehicles and to always lock their doors.
