Guelph police were forced to call off a high speed chase on Wednesday after the driver, wanted by Waterloo Regional Police, fled from officers.
Police spotted the grey Honda Civic at around 4:30 p.m. near Speedvale Avenue and Gladstone Street.
“This vehicle was known to be operated by a male wanted by the Waterloo Regional Police for a number of offences,” Guelph police said in a media release.
When officers approached, the car sped off.
“It continued to drive at a high rate of speed, disregarding stop signs and other vehicles on the road,” police said.
Officers chasing the car made the decision to call off the chase because of public safety concerns.
Police said the driver is known to them and efforts to locate him continue.
