The strike continues at Pearson International Airport.
Swissport employees voted almost unanimoulsy at 98% to reject the latest contract offer from their employer.
A spokesman for Teamsters Union Local 419, Christopher Monette, calls it a “slap in the face” to employees who have been on strike for a month. He also said the second offer was “almost identical” to its first.
Terms of the deal have not been released, but yesterday Swissport was quite confident that workers would accept the new offer.
The strike by about 700 cabin cleaners, baggage handlers and other ground workers has been on-going now for almost four weeks. Sticking points in contract negotiations include scheduling, pay and benefits.
Swissport services 30 airlines at Pearson, including Air Transat, Sunwing Airlines and British Airways.
