The Guelph Police are reminding residents NOT to leave their vehicles running, unattended.
Over the past week they’ve responded to several stolen vehicle reports because people have left their vehicles running unattended with the keys in the ignition.
The City of Guelph actually has a by-law against this:
“No person driving or in charge of a motor vehicle other than a commercial motor vehicle, shall permit such motor vehicle to stand unattended unless it is locked in such a manner as to prevent its operation by any person not authorized by the owner, driver or person in charge.” (City of Guelph By-Law Number (1977)-9650. )
It’s a simple theft to prevent, don’t leave your vehicle running and unattended, ever.
