Guelph Residents will soon see the benefits of the Federal Gas Tax Fund Investments in the City’s Infrastructure, that officials say will hopefully help grow the middle class, create healthy communities for future generations and promote sustainable development along with long-term prosperity for Families.
The City of Guelph is slated to receive about $7,399,405 in federal indexed annual funding through the Gas Tax Fund that will go towards municipal infrastructure such as roadways, sports and rec facilities and tourism infrastructure.
The idea behind the Federal Gas Tax Investment project is to generate economic growth that in the long-run will generate new jobs and ensure that the the City of Guelph remains one of the top places to live in the country. The project could be used to keep roadways safe and up-to-date or support the local transit system as well as improve access to clean drinking water for residents. The project will also go towards the replacement of streetlights in the city as well as the retrofitting of buildings in Guelph along with recreational facilities and infrastructure upgrades such as bridges, pedestrian paths and road repairs.
