To say this has been a tough week would be an understatement. Planning to attend a funeral for someone you know and love is never easy. But again, stating the obvious. Today, we will bury a friend. We have now all been acquainted with Guelph Police Constable Jennifer Kovach. Badge # 72. Killed tragically in a car accident while on duty, tending to a call.
For me, I know her as Jen. No uniform. No badge number. No gun. She didn’t need any of that to make her Jen. Becoming an officer was her dream but it didn’t define her as a person and as the woman we all knew.
Jen was the young girl that showed up for our Dragon Boat Team at the age of about 13 on crutches. She was supposed to row for our team, but was disabled with a foot injury. She showed up with ...
Today is International Women's Day. I say yay to the power of women worldwide. Strength of women the world over. And the power of the woman to make a difference.
I do however, also recognize that today would not be necessary if we all took the time to see the ability and quality in every human being, male or female. Women would not stand out as the victims of misfortune, if we all took a stand and recognized the being, rather than the gender. Sadly, a day like today only highlights what women think they don’t have. To me, we should stand tall today and celebrate the fact we are WOMEN! Share your voice, stay true and be YOU! Let’s not bash men and victimize ourselves for being a girl.

I received likely the most touching email I have ever received to date. It's not often at all that someone actually sends you something that relates to life. We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate.

What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?
At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:
'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection."
Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children ...
Well after 7 days of nasty flu bugness .... I think I have it kicked. What a bout though! Wasn't sure which way it was gonna go ... crawl into a ball and hide for a few more days or just suck it up and get back to reality. I chose the latter. It was time to shower, brush my hair and throw on some clothes that were worthy of wearing in public. This recent battle with the flu has made me think about making some changes. I think it's time to start taking vitamins on a regular basis, eating better and sleeping more! I just dropped over 8 pounds in just a couple of days ... I feel weak and so exhausted. Time to strengthen the ole immunity system! Starting with breakfast, something I never do. Any tips?????
