What’s the one piece of advice you’d give clients who are buying/selling their home?
Buying/Selling is about making choices – it’s about helping my clients make informed decisions. In the case of a Buyer, I believe it’s fundamentally important that my clients have a plan for the type of home they want, including a strategy for buying it. Most importantly, I make sure that my clients have a clearly defined budget for how much they can commit to the actual purchase of a home. In the case of a Seller, it’s important that my clients participate in developing the marketing plan as well as the preparation of the home for selling, guided by my expertise. It’s important that they put themselves in the shoes of the Buyer and view the marketing/selling of their home from the Buyer’s perspective. Their home has to compete with others on the market, and since first impressions can be lasting impressions, their home has to stand out, and so it’s important that no effort is spared in preparing the home for showings and the ultimate sale.
How do you partner with your clients?
Regardless of whether I’m working with a Buyer or a Seller, I consider myself to be working for my clients – in other words, I have a deep respect for the fact that they have engaged me to do a job for them. That’s why it’s very important for me to develop a clear understanding of what they want to achieve in the process of buying or selling of their home. I invest considerable time with my clients discussing their motives for buying or selling in order to understand and have an appreciation for what’s important to them. This allows me to better serve and advise them, and to represent their interests to the best of my ability.
What is your passion outside of real estate?
My family – my wife and daughter are my safe harbor! Outside of my immediate and extended family, it’s Golf – it’s how I decompress and sharpen my focus.
